Top 5 trends for Digital marketing

1. Membership programmes are topping “the loyalty card”

Every industry has it’s psychology to it. This one is definitely stating the obvious. One of the basic needs, stated by Maslow’s hierarchy is that people need to feel accepted and they want to have an identity with significance. So by giving them the opportunity to become part of a membership and paying a fee while doing so, gives them this type of satisfaction. Loyalty cards can be given to anyone, but membership is exclusive. Make your customers feel like part of the family and start building on honest relationships by offering them more value. Brands can offer “exclusive products” to members only or give them an option to “jump the queue”. With the release of a new product you can also give them “first viewing rights”. Make them feel important and they will stay loyal.

2. Video content vs static content

Video content has been the focus for a while now. It is totally overriding the usual advertisements which need a lot of reading. The average time span for people watching videos are more or less 60 seconds. Let’s give TikTok founder, Zhang Yiming a pat on the back for owning this trend. Brands need to tell their stories by use of video, keep it authentic and you will see the result in the revenue.

3. Discounts are “so last season”

The go too for the majority of brands have been to cut on price to get new customers, but they need to focus on offering more value to the customers. Offering in-store experiences and free personalisation of products, will catch their attention. Free-shipping or sending them a free product to use and give feedback on will definitely hit the spot.

4. Bringing back the old fashioned postcard

Who would have guessed? With the latest social distancing and the fact that technology can bring us so close, yet so far from each other the need for personalisation and physical touch will always be there. Advertising postcards sent to your home, is now a growing thing. Its eye-catching, tangible and will give a great return on investment

5. E-mail marketing is King

Email marketing works. Why? It is cheap, it’s personal and it is private. Email marketing is not new, but definitely a fast growing trend that brands should utilise. Creating interactive content to send to your customers will ensure the success of every campaign launched.
